Academic Interests

My academic interests focus on heritage Spanish, particularly on the sociocultural factors that shape heritage speakers’ relationships with Spanish and their bilingual development within their specific contexts. I am interested in the connections between language and cultural identity, language maintenance, and how educational contexts can support or challenge learners’ connections to their heritage language. I am also interested in teacher education, particularly in developing pedagogical approaches and resources that help educators respond effectively to the linguistic and cultural diversity of heritage Spanish learners.
