Baylor's Middle East Studies program provides the student with an interdisciplinary approach to studying and understanding the region. It is designed to provide students with a broad range of knowledge related to the Middle East. In keeping with the diverse approach of the program, courses are offered in various departments, including history, political science, religion, church-state studies, and other areas. The central geographical focus will be on the Arab states, Israel, Turkey, and Iran.
During the student's time at Baylor he or she will have several opportunities to travel and study in this region. These opportunities range from a study abroad program in Egypt to U.S. government funded research grants that allow up to one year of study in the region. Baylor University considers study overseas to be a vital component to a well rounded education and strongly encourages all students to participate in one or more of these programs while at Baylor.
