Each represent unique case studies in business, social change, and urbanization, while also maintaining a unique culture deeply-rooted in their ancient history. These cities are not only regarded as "global" or "world" cities, but have also followed distinct paths to achieve this status. They are hubs for multinational corporations and regional centers for business, finance, and culture, each with its unique historical trajectory. The program’s location in these cities will allow students to study firsthand the diverse models of urban development and economic growth that define East Asia’s role in the global economy.
